CITY MAPPER (Online script for Bryce and more) by lasaucisse CITY MAPPER (Online script for Bryce and more) by lasaucisse
[ENGLISH]

Hello, I am the (french) author of City Mapper.
You make 3D pictures ? This script can be usefull !
I created it for me, for Bryce use, but it can be used by any software enable to use pictures as elevation maps.

It's a web script that generate grayscale bitmap images, to use as elevation level into the Bryce Terrain Editor (or any soft that can do the same thing) for easily creation of city maps.

► Demo pictures on my DA : lasaucisse.deviantart.com/gall…

It's a small program online: javascript interface and PHP for the image generator. The interface is partially composed of 24-bit PNG images with transparency, so you have to use a recent browser that supports this format.
I opted for a design of machine hardware, with large buttons, potentiometers, diodes ... rather than a traditional HTML form (I'm sick of check boxes and dropdown lists on the net ...)
I hope you'll enjoy its current possibilities.

No registration required : it's easy, fast and free !

Small quick start :

For those who want quick and easy, simply turn activate the 3 buttons at the top left :
1: Start the machine
2: Generate an image
3: Save the image, which proposes to "save image as ..."

Otherwise, open the panel settings with the button at the top right.

To use this image in the Bryce Field Editor :

- or you click the "save" button and you will set the recorded image,
- or you right-click on the thumbnail of the land that appears to the right of "save" button, you "copy image" and then "paste" (Ctrl + V) in the Editor .

I recommend pre-set the resolution of land equal to that of the image, the default is 512x512 pixels, choose 512. And, the options field, check "solid" and uncheck "smooth".

The images are seamless by default, it allows to have several identical fields next to each other. But the land never being truly vertical extrusions, there will be small spaces between the joints. So position your land on Bryce (is fast following the Bryce's grid), then select them all and apply a total distortion of scale at 100.5% in X and Z: the land will be superimposed just enough space to hide .
Then adjust the height of land.

Thanks to comment if you use it, and I'll happy to see your 3D cities ! :D
